If I leave it=20 alone, after some time between half an hour to 2 hours it goes back to=20 normal. Is there a known problem that I can correct? This happens at=20 irregular intervals from 6 to 20 days, and rebooting has not helped. The clue was in the gdb analysis which I=20 had noticed but wasn't totally sure what it meant. Reading symbols from /lib/libpcre.so.0...(no debugging symbols=20 found)...done.=20 Loaded symbols for /lib/libpcre.so.0=20 The problem is to do with regular expressions. Henrik suggested my=20 bb-hosts but I have no regex's configured in there so I went to check my=20 hobbit-alerts.cfg and hobbit-clients.cfg. As I'm not too good with regular=20 expressions I started by commenting out all the most recently added custom=20 alerts and narrowed my problem down to a few custom alerts where I had=20 tried to tell hobbit which messages to ignore. I need to add some better=20 rules to allow me to better detect the messages I want and ignore a few=20 messages which I don't want. In the process I asked Henrik if he had any regex checking tools, but went=20 out and did some searching myself as well. I found quite a good tutorial=20 at http://www.regular-expressions.info (with a lot of encouragement to buy=20 their regex capable text editor and some other regex tools), as well as a=20 number of freeware regex checking tools that might be useful to others=20 both in learning and testing regex configurations.
