[hobbit] Run local custom script as root?
We use sudo for some tests. For others, we run root cron jobs that generate a flatfile to be parsed by the hobbit client. One of the errors that the client will generate in these cases is the flatfile being over 10 minutes old. This also is used to monitor SAP CCMS alerts (CCMS is the SAP environment internal monitoring toolwhich requires you to be logged into SAP to see the results -- we have an ABAP program that creates a flatfile for hobbit).

Hi, I am new to Hobbit. I searched the Hobbit mailing list archive
but did not find an answer to the following question:
Is there a (save) way to run a local custom script as root? Some
checks require root permissions, e.g. smartctl on Linux does not work
even when you have group rights on the device (e.g. /dev/hda). Or is
running a Hobbit script as root a bad idea at all?
Thanks for your help!
Matthias
