That didn't work. But I found in the sources that it is $BBHIST what is missing. So . ../etc/hobbitserver.cfg did the job. Don't know why the hobbit user didn't read this file.

Run it via "bbcmd" to make sure it has all the Hobbit environment setup. I.e. bbcmd trimhistory --cutoff=.....
