4.2.2 is set to be released really soon (today if memory serves). 4.3 will be after this release but not immediately, nor is there any official announcement on a timeline.

No. But You're very welcome to grab the code form the Subversion archive on Sourceforge, try it out and send bug-reports.

(It isn't *that* dangerous - I have it running on my secondary server at work).
