Hi,
We currently have a big brother install (very old version), and are looking to upgrade it, we are looking at upgrading with hobbit, but one of the things we have going is we have another group that has their own BB implementration and they send us a BB feed, we were wondering if Hobbit can take BB data?
Thanks,

Yes, I have two old linux systems with old BB clients sending data to Hobbit. All of the old-style data still works, but no new hobbit-style data or functionality.

What do you mean when you say all of the old-style data still works, but no new hobbit-style data or functionality? Do you mean that hobbit can handle all the old data, but BB cannot handle the hobbit data?

That's exactly right. A BB client can feed a Hobbit server, but a Hobbit client cannot feed a BB server. Hobbit just does things differently, and BB can't handle it.

Let's be clear:
Client Sever
BB -> Hobbit OK (Hobbit will understand)
Hobbit -> BB NOT OK (BB will not understand messages from the Hobbit client.)
The statement "no new hobit-style data or functionality" means that without the hobbit client running on the other department's servers, there will be some tests not done (e.g. the ports check) that your hobbit clients might be doing and sending to your hobbit server.

All of my clients are running BB and sending data to my Hobbit server, so the answer is obviously "yes"! And I LOVE Hobbit.
