I sent an email to Henrik some time ago about getting access to be able to check in bug fixes via svn but got no reply. Is the current list of developers locked or did I miss something?
Hi, David
Please send him email again, the email may got lost (of attention) given mass emails he got.

AFAIK, no. Henrik is probably just over-worked.
I am listed (to maintain the devmon collector module).
BTW, what are your plans for the xymon-addons project? I think I should start putting some of our extensions somewhere, and I would prefer something with VCS (which is why I haven't put anything on The Shire), and I think it would be beneficial to users if releases (e.g. tarballs) were made with consistent deployment methods for all extensions.
If you think it's a good idea, please add 'buchanmilne' as a developer with commit access to xymon-addons.
Regards, Buchan
This brings up a good point.. We use Xymon extensively at my company but I'm worried about the lack of a long term outlook for the project.
Is there a roadmap for Xymon? If there is where are we on it? If there is not should we as a community draw up one?
Just wondering what people think.. I personally love xymon, but its getting harder to sell it to management..

Same here in regard of xymon deployment. But what I am worry about is that we still don't have a team of developers to develop xymon(hobbit). we(including me ;) are still relying solely on henrik's free development effort.

Can you put down what you like to see in this url ?

But put down wish lists is one thing, getting it done by others is another. Not many xymon developers know C and xymon program architecture and also have free time to work on features in the roadmap.

There was a discussion when Henrik was out for a few weeks. And it was clear that there were enough volunteers (including me) to take over the development. Some time later, Henrik switched to a (little) more open development with svn where also other people had commit access. Anyway, when development stops. I have to take over delopment because we integrade xymon in our monitoring solution. The few patches I proposed were (almost) all accepted. So Henrik is very open to input from other developers.

We settled to xymon after using HP NNM,HP OV, Big brother and Nagio.

Just to be clear, my comment is not saying the Henrik is not open for others to help. My point is that we should have more developers like Henrik to share the xymon development load. I have been trying to improve myself but still a long way to go.

I am happy to contribute to the development effort. I have some changes to the core code that I currently maintain onsite here and merge into the main code whenever we download a new version for release. Not the sort of changes I would release into the core code, but nevertheless I am conmfortable with C and the core of xymon.

I have added you to the project, are you comfortable using SVN?
The structure I am trying to stick to is xymon-addons/package/version and xymon-addons/package/trunk.

Currently, hobbit src tree has empty ext directories after un-packed. I am hoping to see more xymon-addons in the ext directories of both xymon client and server src tree, These xymon-addons include more add-on that are ported from bb or solely for xymon.
but doing so means all the xymon-addon authors need to have write access to xymon svn respository server. This is another adminitration overhead that someone need to take on.

Why not utilise a different repository - like xymon-addons and then merge the releases periodically into the ext directory of xymon. That way not everyone needs commit access to xymon and the upload of addons into the ext directory can be done in a more orderly fashion.
