configuring xymon-4.2.3 using rpm
hi, i have rhel 5.2 64 bit server machine and i want to install xymon in /opt/xymon directory.i hv rpms like xymon-4.2.3-1.rhel5.x86_64.rpm,xymon-client-4.2.3-1.rhel5.x86_64.rpm,xymon-debuginfo-4.2.3-1.rhel5.x86_64.rpm.But after installing installation spreads to /var/xymon and /var/lib64 etc.. i want it to go to /opt/xymon for everything...also i want to know how to configure it....can anybody help me... Depending on who packaged things up and why, the RPM may not be "relocatable" using the built-in features. It's kind of a rarely used thing, actually, and I know on the Fedora side you're actively discouraged from making use of it.
If you need everything residing under a single directory, it might be best just to use it from the tarball. (Or if there's a site requirement, roll your own RPM.)
