It's done outside of Hobbit. Hobbit just runs the program defined in the MAIL setting in hobbitserver.cfg; by default, this is the "mail" utility and it picks up the "hobbit" loginname and uses that for the e-mail address. Any command that accepts the mail-address as a parameter and the message on standard-input will work, including those that tell your mail-service about a specific recipient.
