I started out with just a couple machines being monitored by hobbit now I have 80+ machines and the home page has gotten a little loooong (to much scrolling) what would I have to do to have the home page show groups of servers say based on company name then be able to click in to the link to see the servers that belong to that group? Thanks in advance..

Take a look at the page directive. It will put hosts under it on separate web pages until the next page directive or the end of the bb-hosts file.

I don't think this is possible, but I guess I should ask anyway.
We have servers at a remote site. The network between us and the site went down, and it took the local telecomms 3 days to fix it. As far as the users were concerned there was no problem. (All the users are at the remote site) The server was up and available locally. However, from Hobbit's position on the network, the server was down, and it shows up on the SLA reports.
Is there a way, besides having another Hobbit server at the remote site, to somehow show the server as up?

If you just want to make it stop showing red, you could go to the enable/disable entry in the Administration menu and disable the server "until OK". It'll show blue instead of red, and that doesn't propagate upwards.
If you really want to keep reflecting the server's status, you'll need some other method to deliver reports. For example, if it's a private cable that's down, and if both ends have Internet access, you could set up a ssh tunnel (which I haven't tried), or deliver reports by email (which works fairly well), or something like that.

If you could ping a router address, you could make it a dependency and then the remote hosts would have shown as "unknown" if they were not reachable while the router was not reachable. I think this is called the "router" tag in bb-hosts. It works well unless your path is long.

Maybe? NET:location This tag defines the host as being tested from a specific location. If bbtest-net sees that the environment variable BBLOCATION is set, it will only test the hosts that have a matching "NET:location" tag in the bb-hosts file. So this tag is useful if you have more than one BBNET system, but you still want to keep a consolidated bb-hosts file for all your systems.
Now you would have to set up a bbnet server other than your main bbserver.

Thanks for the suggestion. This is probably the solution to a problem I have been seeing for a few months. I have 2 Hobbit Monitor servers, and they use exactly the sama bb-hosts files. A few of the monitored hosts allow monitoring from one of the Hobbit Monitor, but not the other. This caused rapid fluctuation in the status for those hosts. The status oscillated between green and white with a few minutes cycle. That was because the servers could not agree if the service was up or not. Now I know how to solve it. :)
Now you would have to set up a bbnet server other than your main bbserver.
No I do not think I have to split the servers. They should continue to work fine with this change.

I support several different companies. All I need to do is separate their servers.. so what I am hoping to do is have icons on the landing page for the companies then if you need to see the servers they own, just click the green smiley and the next page just needs to be the group compress "company" field that I have now.. right now the whole page is just group compress then all the systems etc.. for about 80 servers.. so the page is a little long.

The H3 title lines show on the main page as headers for the selected groups; the H4 entries on the 'page' directives show on the main page, with the color dot for the sub-page group. The H3 directives on the group-compress lines show as the column heading for the host names on the sub-page.

group will just create a separation of hosts on the same page. If you want new pages you have to use the page directive. It's very well written up in the doc.

Take a look at the page directive. It will put hosts under it on separate web pages until the next page directive or the end of the bb-hosts file.
