Hi all,
I've got a test running which is collecting firewall connections for various web sites. I have values of "current connections" and "High Water Mark". These are both being successfully collected into an RRD database but I've got an issue with graphing.
What I'd like to be able to do is have 2 graphs showing on the same page, 1 showing the "current connections" and 1 showing the "High Water Mark". I've successfully had them on the same graph but that gives me issues with the scale as it flattens the "current connections" graph too much.
At the moment, the only way I can think of to get round this is to have the external script send the same data to 2 different columns so I can define the different graphs to the different columns but I'd really like to be able to do this on 1 page. Has anyone any idea of how I might do this?

Hi Neil
In the server config variable string, where you defined your RRD graphs, there are some numbers with your test name. These define the number of data sets per graph. Set that to 1, and you should get one data set per graph. I think the value for DISK is 4. Play around with these values, and see what happens.

Hi
Now that I am at work, I had a chance to test this. Here's an extract from my xymonserver.cfg GRAPHS="la,disk::1,inode,qtree,files,processes,memory,users, By adding the ::1 after disk, my disk graphs appear with a single data set per graph. If there is no ::<number> it looks like it defaults to ::5 Good luck.

I haven't had much success in doing what I think you're trying to do. But have a look at the "--multigraphs" option for svcstatus.cgi (man svcstatus).
Note that Xymon will try to put up to 5 lines on the one graph, whereas you want only 1 line on each. Devmon does this thing where it sets the linecount using a comment in the HTML sent in its status message (eg "<!-- linecount=9 -->") and you can manipulate the number of lines on each graph by tricking Xymon, but sometimes you end up with more graph images than the number of lines you want to graph, and the extra show as a broken image. I think there's room for improvement in the code for this - it does the vast majority of cases just fine, but isn't able to handle some more exotic cases like yours.
You might try graphing the high watermark scaled to 10% (or some suitable number) using a CDEF. Or perhaps set the y-axis to logarithmic (-o). Or, you could add "-h 200" to double the height of the canvas from the default of 100 pixels.
