Thanks Brandon,
unfortunately no change with switching off the evt logs.
I have found an error though in clientdata.log:
clientdata.log:2015-03-19 16:16:51 No client backend for OS 'powershell' sent by (ip address of host)
so will look into it from this angle.
cheers!

Something else to try is turn off eventlog collection in the powershell client and/or increase the MAXMSG sizes in the hobbit equivalent of the xymonserver.cfg and see if that makes a difference.

Hi John,
no - nothing. I had actually tested this out by removing the host from bb-hosts and then it did appear in the ghost client list.

Dumb question #1 – is there anything showing up in the ghost client list?
Thanks,

Steve,
You mentioned this was an older version of Hobbit; if it's pre-4.3.0, that would explain it.
'powershell' client/OS identifier support wasn't available until https://sourceforge.net/p/xymon/code/6386/

Hi J.C,
thanks a lot for that comment! I thought it was something like this, we are indeed on older version - 4.3.0.0 beta 2 (so pre Xymon) and are testing the upgrade at the moment. As we have this older version in production and a few thousand hosts throughout the world and with many custom things put in place over the years, it's not a simple upgrade..
PS client working well over here. Thanks again to all involved.

The client and server versions of Xymon and Hobbit are inter-operable. You don’t have to do an all for one upgrade.
Paul.
