Hello all,
I'm still in the process of setting up hobbit Server. I have hobbit server running on a Ubuntu Linux machine.
I have purple status for (the server) cpu, disk, files, memory, msgs, ports, and procs. It's a square with waves. How can I get rid of the purple status. I null'ed the files in ~/data/hist but the status won't turn to green. What do I do to fix it?
Thanks!

Which Hobbit release did you install? It appears that the client is not running.
Go to the client directory and issue:
./runclient.sh start

Actually all the purple statuses are from the Server. I am in the process of setting up a client.
I have Hobbit version 4.2.0 installed.
Thanks,

he means that the client part of the software is not running on the server.
For the server to monitor itself, it needs the client software running on it as well.

Actually all the purple statuses are from the Server. I am in the process of setting up a client.
I have Hobbit version 4.2.0 installed.
Thanks,

Hello all,
I'm still in the process of setting up hobbit Server.

I thought I had seen somewhere in the MAN pages about the ability to set hosts so that if it is not responding to ping then all of the other monitored services should not also send an alert because they are dependent on the ping working.
If one of my machines goes offline because someone turns it off I don't want the other services to also send me e-mails of their failure or purple status. How do I set alerting that if the connection is lost the other services won't alert also.
Any ideas?
Thanks, Jason
If the ping (conn) check fails ... all other checks on that host automatically go into basically a null status and they will not alert by default. Only if you have a host that is NOT monitored by ping, do you need to worry about putting in "depends" checks.

The server install will automatically install the client.
Also, did you install the all-in-one patch? It fixes ALOT of evils.
There is a 4.2.2 release candidate that contains all of the fixes rolled up into a new deliverable.
