Does that mean it will stay green for a half hour before going red if the service has stopped ?
Thanks!

I've been working on the email issue and now seem to have another issue. I shut down the bbwin service on two windows computers that xymon was monitoring and it's not alerting that the service and/or process has stopped.
Default purple interval , aka "status lifetime" is half an hour... I think it's hardcoded on the server side.
Individual alerts can also set their lifetimes. We do that with some of our custom tests, run them every half hour with a lifetime of a couple of hours.

It will stay green and then go purple. I gave up on BBWIN - we were experiencing too many false purples - not sure if there's a way to tell it to send a shorter status lifetime.
Thanks Betsy. That's what just happened. I killed the bbwin service on two windows boxes to test it - about half hour ago, then started getting all kinds of purple. Once I restarted bbwin, I got all the Greens.
I still have to figure out my email issue -I set up another macro and assigned a set of services to it in the alerts.cfg file, but nothing is coming out. Plus I'm still getting the duplicate emails -
I appreciate the help!

Don K

Hi all. Hoping to see if anyone has seen a more recent custom script or has a suggestion on how to best monitor a MySQL server from Xymon.
I found a perl script called bb-SQLServer.pl which looks like it will test a sql server from xymon.
It's a bit older and I was wondering if anyone has a location for one that works with MySQL to check connections to the database and provide timings, etc.?
Thanks
Don K
There are a couple scripts on xymonton: http://xymonton.org/monitors .
Thanks, Larry Barber

If you need to do a *LOT* of MySQL checks, I have a multithreaded script I'm using here; I'm a little curious how it'd work for others...
If you're interested let me know and I can send it off list.
