You should actually use the windows powershell client, it’s actively maintained and has far more features for windows. The files are located here: https://sourceforge.net/p/xymon/code/HEAD/tree/sandbox/WinPSClient/ there documentation is in the XymonPSClient.doc. The powershell client supports sending the client data back over HTTPS with authentication so that may be what you are after in your scenario.

For the general xymon config on the server however you really need to read through the xymon documentation, for mail you would specifically be looking at the alerts.cfg file https://xymon.com/help/manpages/man5/alerts.cfg.5.html

You could put the xymon instance in AWS with your servers and only make it available from your servers via AWS firewall. Same with your internal servers.

xymonproxy is another option in cases like that.  I've used it where servers were not allowed to communicate directly out of a restricted network.

If you have a remote client which can not communicate directly back to your xymon server, one can 'pull' the data from the host with the server. This is not "basic" xymon. It isn't "expert" level, but I'd at least put it at "advanced".

To do something similar, I run a xymon client and 'msgcache' on the remote host. The client reports to the cache on its own hostname. I then have that host defined in my xymon server with a 'pulldata' tag. The xymon server makes a connection to the remote host and retrieves the cached messages.
