Which version do you run on your server ?
You need this patch

or better the new release candidate

Martin, I did the following. 1)HOBBIT server is A, client server is B 2)new file(linux-iostat.pl) under client/ext on machine B 3)added entry of [linux-iostat] in hobbitclient.cfg on machine B
- My entry on bb-hosts is as following: <IP > <server name> # TRENDS:*,disk:disk|iostat-disk|iostat-part
and exact copy of graph details from the stef's site, to hobbitgraph.cfg Log file(linux-iostat.log) has nothing in it.

If all goes well, you should see some iostat files in it.

So this means I have applied the patch correct? Yes. Strange, it should work. Also, make sure to uncomment the debug line so it sends the trends messages to the hobbit server. Can you also send me the full output of the logfile if you enable the debug option? You can send it to my mail directly if you want.
Henrik, please, release the new version so we don't have to patch anymore ... ;)

Hi Stef,
First of all, I would like to appreciate your effort to make this iostat feature working. Its really a great add on feature in hobbit system. Congrats !
In my configuration, it already shows the iostat read/write graphs per logical partitions ( sdc, sdd, sde ) in trends column but i cant see the graphs per partitions or mount points for example graphs for ( /u03, /u04, .. /u07 ). I am missing something in my config ?
I really appreciate to hear from all the hobbit admins .

You can make ths by hand if you really want if you a put definition per mount point in hobbitgraph.cfg and point it to the correct partition. Or you can create a symbolic link and include the mount point name and use the same trick as the disk graphs to get the mount point.
I will try do this on my own box if you have the time today.

Hi Stef,
It works ... i'm now seeing mount points in my iostat graphs. But, how will I add this "disk iostat" in metrics reports instead of in trends column. Actually, we are submitting server performance graphs in a weekly basis.

sdb5 is my /home/users fs, so I create a symbolic link: ln -s iostat-part.sdb5.rrd iostat-part-mp,home,users.rrd
Added to hobbitgraph (copied from [iostat-part], only the FNXPATTERN is changed):
[iostat-part-mp] TITLE partition read and write YAXIS KiloByte/s FNPATTERN iostat-part-mp(.*).rrd DEF:Kb_read at RRDIDX@=@RRDFN@:Kb_read:AVERAGE LINE2:Kb_read at RRDIDX@#@COLOR@:@RRDPARAM@ read GPRINT:Kb_read at RRDIDX@:LAST: \: %5.1lf (cur) GPRINT:Kb_read at RRDIDX@:MAX: \: %5.1lf (max) GPRINT:Kb_read at RRDIDX@:MIN: \: %5.1lf (min) GPRINT:Kb_read at RRDIDX@:AVERAGE: \: %5.1lf (avg)\n
DEF:Kb_wrtn2 at RRDIDX@=@RRDFN@:Kb_wrtn:AVERAGE CDEF:Kb_wrtn at RRDIDX@=0,Kb_wrtn2 at RRDIDX@,- LINE2:Kb_wrtn at RRDIDX@#@COLOR@:@RRDPARAM@ wrtn GPRINT:Kb_wrtn2 at RRDIDX@:LAST: \: %5.1lf (cur) GPRINT:Kb_wrtn2 at RRDIDX@:MAX: \: %5.1lf (max) GPRINT:Kb_wrtn2 at RRDIDX@:MIN: \: %5.1lf (min) GPRINT:Kb_wrtn2 at RRDIDX@:AVERAGE: \: %5.1lf (avg)\n
To include this graph (placed in bb-hosts): TRENDS:*,disk:disk|iostat-disk|iostat-part-mp

Hi,
I'm referring to Reports -> Metrics Reports menu. In its current options, there is ALL, CPU Load( Windows/Unix), CPU Utilization ( Unix), Disk, RAM( Swap). Is it possible to include Disk IOSTAT in the options menu.
Thanks for the support :)
RaAL

Hi Stef,
It works ... i'm now seeing mount points in my iostat graphs. But, how will I add this "disk iostat" in metrics reports instead of in trends column. metrics report?

In this file, you find the definition of the form: <option value="ALL" SELECTED>ALL</option> <option value="cpu">CPU load (Windows/Unix)</option> <option value="la1">CPU utilization (Unix)</option> <option value="disk">Disk</option> <option value="memory">RAM/Swap</option> <option value="conn">Ping times</option>
You can add extra lines. The value must be a valid graph like iostat-disk. Example. add the line <option value="iostat-disk">Iostat: disk</option> And try the report.
Stef
Great,
i've searched also for this :-)
thanks, martin

4.2.2 is the same as 4.2.0 + patches + rename to xymon.
I don't thinkg there is client for os/400 or iSeries. You can do remote monitoring (ping, port check, ....). I also think there is a perl bb commando that can be used on any system that has perl installed.
Stef
Check out deadcat.net. There is a OS/400 client for Big Brother, I don't know how current it is (and since it is for OS/400 it is probably quite old, since the OS was renamed some time ago).
