I imagine you use expect and a script on the client itself, and just telnet to localhost. We have some apps like that also, and that was our solution. I know it would be nice to do it from the server, but it still achieves the goal.

No, I'm afraid there isn't. It would be nice to be able to handle such a dialogue style of network testing, but that is not possible with the current network tester.
