It's likely that, at one point, you (or someone in your organization) ran something like this on your Xymon server:

htpasswd -c $XYMONHOME/etc/xymonpasswd <username>

to create a password file Xymon's use and/or:

htpasswd $XYMONHOME/etc/xymonpasswd <username>

to update it with additional users or to change a user's password.

You'll want to look for "xymonpaswd" somewhere and check the contents for a username and either change a password (for a generic, multi-use user)or add a new user to do so (using the second command).

Hello,

    I was wondering if there was a way to control which systems were

summarized in the "all non-green view" window. I'd like to use this as a sort of front end for our operations staff to monitor and don't need to have them calling about every little thing.

    Also, I can't seem to find the correct user/pass to use when

trying to run the "edit critical systems" or "acknowledge alert" pages. I'm running on Red Hat ES 5.9 and using Firefox for my browser. Keeps saying the password is invalid. I've tried the "xymon" account, "root" and even added a password to the "apache" account, but no success. What is expected here?

There is a 'nonongreen' host option you can use in the hosts.cfg. Taken from //localhost/xymon/help/manpages/man5/hosts.cfg.5.html

nonongreen Ignore this host on the "All non-green" page. Even if it has an active alert, it will not be included in the "All non-green" page. This also removes the host from the event-log display.

If you want to set this for many hosts, 'nonongreen' is an accepted argument on a .default. host line. Look up "Default Host" in that same doc file.
