Xymon 4.3.5 restart for adding host
Hi,
On every change I do in hosts.cfg, I need to restart xymon service.
This cause me lot of work, cause all my test (blue) came back in red... and send alerts.
Someone have same as me ?
David Raymond
I don't seem to have that issue. When I add hosts, no restart is required. It many not be true for newer versions but I recall the only thing needing a restart was an edit to the (hobbit|xymon)server.cfg. If you are deleting the tmp files (*.chk) I can see the maint alerts change from blue to red.
Others, wiser and running more current versions will chime in, but waht happens if you just add a new host to the host.cfg file and wait some 7 minutes without restarting? Does it show up?
Good Luck, Tim

How long have you waited before to verify that it will not pick these changes up on its own? My recollection is that these changes are picked up without a restart. However, I don't know why you're seeing all of that activity from a simple restart -- it only takes about 20 seconds to restart.

No you dont. Either wait 10 minutes for xymond to reload the hosts.cfg file, or do a "kill -HUP" of the xymond process.
This cause me lot of work, cause all my test (blue) came back in red… and send alerts.
Should not happen on a restart, unless you delete the xymond* files in the tmp/ directory.

Yesterday I add one host and this morning still with "-" at each column, event conn. I do /usr/lib/xymon/server/bin/xymon.sh start and all come up.
