Question about next Hobbit release (NOT "when is it due")
Quick question about the next version of Hobbit...
Currently in 4.2.0 (latest patches), the "info" page doesn't correctly show the alert rules when using the GROUP directive. (I believe this was mentioned before on this mailing list). I'm just curious if the feature set for 4.3.0 (or whatever the next version will be numbered) has been frozen, and if this will be fixed. If it's not frozen and not currently in the code, would it be possible to add it to the next version?
Nothing's frozen (global warming and all ...), but I need to work out a way to display the alert/GROUP info in a sensible manner.

Anybody feel like updating this?

the author seems to be involved with zabbix plugins and munin monitoring. see http://www.zabbix.com/wiki/doku.php?id=blog:federico.
I'm quite surprised hobbit (the page at wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_monitoring_comparison
was created the 9th of nov. 2007) had no trend capabilities, no plugins, and everything was stored in memory at this time.
and there is also nothing mentionned about commercial products, even if the page is titled "A short comparison between the most common network monitoring systems".

I've improved the accuracy of the Hobbit contents, I don't want to adjust the content further without discussion ...

Well the way I see it...
Probably should change: Charts = No
Not sure what these are: Agent = Yes
Everything else looks to be accurate. Was there another row someone wanted to throw in there that is "exclusive" to Hobbit maybe?

I suspect this is not trend graphs (I changed trends to "Yes"), but I am not sure. It could relate to something like "pie chart of percentage of services critical" or similar.
Not sure what these are: Agent = Yes
That the monitoring tool has or requires an agent (e.g. hobbit-client, BBWin etc.) to be installed on the monitored servers (e.g. some systems are "agent-less", because they don't have a specific agent, but rely, say, on SNMP only).
Everything else looks to be accurate. Was there another row someone wanted to throw in there that is "exclusive" to Hobbit maybe?
You would have to know all the other monitoring systems to know whether it is exclusive, and fill the new row in for them ...
Regards, Buchan
The way I see trends being is a line graph, as those produced by Hobbit. Does anyone else see things this way?
I see, thanks for the explanation on the agent =)
If you don't know, mark "don't know" or "?" The point of a Wiki page is that there is a gathering of information from multiple sources. Not one person is supposed to the answer for each of the tools!

Yes, that is what I understood, which is why I changed trending to Yes. However, I suspect they mean something else by "Charts" (e.g. pie charts etc.).
Ooh, I see. Also, Buchan - you're adding email addresses in your response. All you have to do is retain the subject and reply to hobbit at hswn.dk so it will be distributed to everyone =)
Does anyone know of additional features that we should be putting on the Wiki page?
