Hi,
We are using 4.2-alfa-20060423 (snapshot of 25th may) and see problems with recovered messages/SMS: they sometimes don't get sent.
We have a general Macro in hobbit-alerts.cfg that is used by all mail or SMS rules:
Mail & SMS defaults
$MAIL_DEFS=REPEAT=24h RECOVERED $SMS_DEFS=COLOR=red FORMAT=SMS $MAIL_DEFS
Mail & SMS recipients
$MAIL_DF=MAIL example at example.com $MAIL_DEFS $SMS_DF=SCRIPT $SENDSMS 0123456789 $SMS_DEFS
Example rule
HOST=argos,bigmac,docusurf,eliot,fmp7web,ged,hippocrate,iris,mailc,midas,zeb1,zeb2,zelda,zelda2 $MAIL_DF $SMS_DF
In the following notifications.log you can see that recovered message never got sent for hobbitd:
Thu May 4 05:01:31 2006 uldns2.smtp (130.223.4.5) abc.def at xy.ch 1146711691 725 Thu May 4 05:01:46 2006 uldns2.smtp (130.223.4.5) abc.def at xy.ch 1146711706 725 15 Thu May 4 06:03:57 2006 iris.hobbitd (130.223.27.23) abc.def at xy.ch 1146715437 0 Thu May 4 07:02:24 2006 falco.sslcert (130.223.5.21) www.ddd at xy.ch 1146718944 0 Thu May 4 07:05:54 2006 mailc1.msgs (130.223.27.61) root at localhost 1146719154 400 Thu May 4 07:10:55 2006 mailc1.msgs (130.223.27.61) root at localhost 1146719454 400 300
The history log shows that hobbitd was recovered after 2 cycles (10 min. 1 sec).

I have another example for a procs test where the duration was 23 min.
BTW: a man page for log formats would be helpful.

Hi
same here. I've copied it from the snapshot/client directory (where Hobbit was compiled), and the error went away.

Hi all,
i have installed the client on hpux 11.00, and i have problem to test dir/files and log (always clear) In hobbitclient.log, i found this error message
[clientversion] grep: can't open /opt/bbuser/client/tmp/logfetch.cfg
Also for this client i must copy the file clientupdate from source directory.
I have these entry, on server side, in hobbit-client:
HOST=hpux.server PORT LOCAL=%\.: STATE=ESTABLISHED MIN=0 TRACK=web-estab TEXT=estab(80:443) PORT LOCAL=%\.: STATE=LISTEN TRACK=web-listen min=2 TEXT=listen(80:443) DIR /opt/bbuser/bb TRACK FILE /opt/bbuser/bb/BBOUT yellow SIZE>0 MTIME<600 TRACK
and in client-local.cfg: [hpux.server] log:/var/adm/syslog/syslog.log:10240 dir:/opt/bbuser/bb file:/opt/bbuser/bb/BBOUT
Someone have the same problems?
thanks
Marco

Hi Henrick,
i see that the fields in do_vmstat.c for hpux are differents from my vmstat output. You think it will be possible to add another hpux profile?

Hi,
i try to create logfetch.cfg by hand, and it work correctly. It's possible that bbproxy not permit to fetch data from the server to create automaticaly logfetch.cfg?
thanks

hobbitping needs to be suid root

Fixed in current snapshot.

A limitation of rrdtool. In hobbitgraph.cfg, try changing [disk] to
[disk] FNPATTERN disk(.*).rrd TITLE Disk Utilization YAXIS % Full DEF:p at RRDIDX@=@RRDFN@:pct:AVERAGE LINE2:p at RRDIDX@#@COLOR@:@RRDPARAM@ -u 100 -l 0 COMMENT:\n <--- add this line GPRINT:p at RRDIDX@:LAST: \: %5.1lf (cur) GPRINT:p at RRDIDX@:MAX: \: %5.1lf (max) GPRINT:p at RRDIDX@:MIN: \: %5.1lf (min) GPRINT:p at RRDIDX@:AVERAGE: \: %5.1lf (avg)\n

Yes.

Make sure your server reports "uptime" in English. If it does, then let me see the first part of the servers' ~hobbit/client/tmp/msg*.txt file.

You need to update bbproxy. It doesn't know that the "client" command generates a response from the Hobbit server.
