the description of the issue is quite poor. could you please precise the version you're using, the operating system where the server runs, the operating system the client runs, etc.
at least I tried.
Any help is apreciated. Thanks

there is still no info regarding the hobbit versions. could you check if you have any traffic on port 1984 ?
Soory about the missing info. I m runing the last version from source: hobbit-4.2.0.tar.gz The install on the server and the clints went ok.
The port 1984 is open.
Inside my lan The server: is 192.168.11.3 The client lan is 192.168.11.100 No firewall and all the ports are open.
I tried the FQDN to false but no success still same error.
In both client and the server i have the correct fqname in the host files.
Thanks.

just to be sure, I suppose you ran the configure --client on all of your clients after the installation/recompilation. could you try directly with the debian client packages available at sourceforge ?

I guess the 4.2.0.1 client should work fine with the 4.2.0 server.

It sounds like you're running the Hobbit client in "local" mode - with all of the client configuration kept on the client, instead of the default where the configuration is on the server ?
Does your client status columns (cpu, disk, memory and so on) show up on the Hobbit server ? If yes, then you can ignore this message.

I sent a quick patch for this last year:

You're right that the message isn't damaging, just annoying.
