Whenever I click on a link from the Hobbit site (my server) I get this error:

Look for a file called "error_log". It might be in /var/log/httpd.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say you've never done any kind of system administration before? We'll try to help, but this is basic information...

find / -name 'error_log'

should show you exactly where it is located.

You need to make /usr/local/sbin/fping suid-root: chown root /usr/local/sbin/fping chmod 4755 /usr/local/sbin/fping

Or even better: install sudo and allow your hobbit-user to execute fping via sudo without password...
