Please comment out the test for the GNU "ld" in the build/Makefile.SunOS file - you can just delete these lines:
ifeq ($(LDTYPE),GNU) RPATH=-Wl,--rpath, else RPATH=-Wl,-R endif
Then try re-running the "make" command.
