Is it possible to schedule a windows reboot command through hobbit? See below
C:\WINDOWS\system32\shutdown.exe/r/f
I need to run this command on a few servers every night and send emails to operations, "email" which I finally got working :-)
Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Becki
I don't know the answer to that question, but I don't think a monitoring system is the proper tool to use for taking action.

Becki,
I cannot help you with Windows unfortunately. If it helps what we typically do is have a script triggered in hobbit-alerts.cfg to ssh to the problem host and execute a script or command on the remote host (UNIX).
There are reasons to do this. The primary reason being we like sleeping instead of waking up in the early AM to login and execute the command manually. The script on the server also creates a report that is sent to all interested parties that something has been restarted or some action has been taken. We like to call the process automated.
You just have to be careful, that it works and consider what could go wrong. Like in your case, your script goes awry and you end up continously rebooting. You also would have to consider, what if the reboot fails, and what alarms will be created when the host is rebooted.
Sorry, I couldn't be more help.
~David

Off track, one trick to impress your Windows admins (assuming it fits your company policy) to add the Windows RDP Web client (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e2ff8fb5-97ff- 47bc-bacc-92283b52b310&DisplayLang=en) to the Hobbit Notes directory (/var/lib/hobbit/www/notes). Once you modify the htm page appropriately your Windows admins can click on the link in the Hobbit page and open a terminal session to which ever server is of interest.
Hope this is useful
Regards
Graeme

HI Graham.. This is a good idea.. Could you provide a little bit more info on how you use it? Can you pass a server value to it?

All I have done is to copy the files into the notes directory and rename the htm page to be the same as the display name on Hobbit e.g. localhost.htm, fs1.domain.internal etc. I have then just hard coded the IP address into the htm page and away it goes. There are better ways of doing it like opening a new tab in the browser before connecting and getting the IP address from the conn test but these are things for another day. If anyone does it I would appreciate a copy the htm page.
Hope this helps
