Does anyone have a good client install for monitoring HP-UX or OpenVMS? The HP-UX is my main concern and also I would have almost no idea of how to do the install of the client so any major help would be appreciated.

It is the same as configuring for other operating systems. Give it a shot and let us know what trouble you run into. One caveat is that it is best (necessary?) to install the GNU complier/linker. Aside from that, I don't remember it being special in any way.

The only issue I have is I do not have it on anything but Windows machines, I have no real idea of how to do the install or even where to download the xymon client from for HP-UX.
I have the windows client running on over 800+ machines right now. and none of my vms, linux, HP-UX, ESX or Solaris machines are monitored.

Surely someone must be administering those machines -- get them to do it. How to compile/install software is sort of outside of the scope of this mailing list (though there are some standard install directions in the source download). It is extremely easy for someone who's familiar with it to do, and not hard to learn if you don't already know it... you might look around at Google under "compiling installing software unix" if the instructions in the package don't do it for you.

I missed "where to download it." Go to http://www.xymon.org and download the source package (it should be somewhere obvious and be called something like xymon-4.3.10.tar.gz) -- there's one source code package for all supported OS' that includes the client and server.

First thing that you will need to establish is whether the HPUX box has either the HP commercial ANSI C compiler or the GCC C non-commercial compiler. If you do not have either, have two possible approaches:
If you are allowed to install a C compiler, you can obtain a HP gcc compiler package from the HP Porting Center (there will be some other requisite packages)Install the xymon client without the binaries built from source but rather fill in with a shell/perl based transmission client to replace the HPUX/Xymon transmission binary.
Same approach for the Solaris boxes – you can get a free gcc C compiler from Sunfreeware site (hmm… wonder when/if it has been rebranded to something like Oraclefreeware).
For VMS, I sort of doubt you will be able to do a compilation from the Xymon source. For that, you may need to dig out using google and ~old, old, Big Brother client implementation for VMS. May be able to get a perl transmission client to work – but perl is not necessarily installed on the VMS box.

It is possible to manage without any compiled binaries, if you just want the basic reporting from the client. I found two that needed replacing. One is the xymon binary, which can be replaced by a shell script using curl to deliver over http or https. I think the other was logfetch, which is being used to get the clock time. I'm not using xymon to grab logfiles, so the date command worked out just fine.
