Rob,
Can badTEST only be used with built-in network tests? I have the following two tags:
badldaps:1:1:100 badol:1:1:100If I shut down LDAP, “ldaps” goes yellow, but “ol” still goes red. Do I need to just modify the script that reports “ol” status to get it to go yellow?
A related question: Can you use ‘-1’ as the last number to say “unlimited”?
It can only be used with network tests. See man bb-hosts. Don't know about -1, sorry.
I implemented equivalent functionality in a few of my own custom tests, but eventually I realized that an alternative solution for me was to use DURATION in hobbit-alerts.cfg to defer notification on non-critical tests for a small number of test cycles (10-15 mins) on the basis that if it recovers itself (e.g. false alert) I didn't want to know anyway. Doesn't apply for event driven alerts (e.g. logs, traps, etc) but can apply to anything that involves polling for current status (e.g. content on a website, disk, svcs, etc). You still get to see teh red status in the display and history.
David.
