[Xymon] How does the vmstat.rrd file get populated?

How does the standard Xymon client send the file $XYMONHOME/tmp/xymon_vmstat.hostname.12558 to the server?

It is pasted into the normal client-message file. See the end of the OS-specific "xymonclient-OS.sh" script.
