From memory, I remember seeing Henrik suggest fping is better to use then the included (with Xymon) ping tool. I can't find any evidence of this in the mailing list archives, though.
Is everyone running xymonping now successfully? Has anyone been forced to fping? Is there an advantage of one over the other?
My own experience is that fping is a bit more reliable in picking up all responses when testing many systems.
Since fping also does IPv6 and xymonping doesn't, I have a strong inclination to drop xymonping for the IPv6-enabled network tester.
