Is there a maximum limit for the lenghts of lines in BB-HOSTS. I must admit that I have lines that are exceeding 430 characters.

In 4.2 it should be limited only by available RAM. I'd guess your last line doesn't have a newline at the end.

Is there a way to use a line break such as "\" in the bb-hosts ?

Yes, if a line ends with '\' then it is continued on the next line.
