Rob, your issue is here:
"xymongrep.c:23:21: fatal error: version.h: No such file or directory"
version.h is a header file included in linux-headers package (at least in Gentoo Linux)
on Gentoo:
emerge -va linux-headers
On a Debian-based system, then you want to:
apt-get install build-essential
Red Hat based:
yum install kernel-headers
Then try building Xymon again. Basically, you are missing some dependencies, and there may be others once you have this dependency installed.
