This isn't the first time this has come up. I recently wrestled with this. Rather than have to manage several hundred entries to include the proxy info, I had to ask that my monitoring server be allowed an exemption. It would be REALLY helpful if xymon would either pick up an environment variable (like use the system http_proxy setting) or allow users to set a default proxy to use.

Adding support for proxy configuration in environment variables in a future version, may be nice. Probably not a high priority.

Sorry if this is a silly question. Is there a way to set proxy parameters (URL, user, password) for xymon globally, instead of having to do it on each http URL?
I spent some time a couple of years ago digging into http proxy support in xymonnet. I am not aware of any way to do what you want.
I agree this would be a useful feature, defined at either the global or host/defaulthost level.
It's not something available as-is, but I think there may be a way to patch that in in the future.
