I was thinking along the parameters checkboxes line myself.... Something that either puts together the list of available checkboxes based on whats found in the bb-hosts file already, or a pre-defined list of things that can be added.
Some things like cont and http/https tests will need text entry boxes always for the URLs and test strings. Network services like ftp, ssh, telnet, smtp, etc will need some way to add as inverted checks (!ftp, !ssh, !telnet, etc) through the checkboxes.
Overall pretty complicated... But would certainly make the editing of hosts more 'user-friendly' for those not as familiar with BB internals.

One tiny bug discovered with BB usage instead of Hobbit, line 1735 has a hardcoded image path to /hobbit/gifs/bkg-blue.gif which should be changed to use the configuration entry.
Oops! Fixed.
One suggestion I have is to make the input boxes for the Host Options wider? With a very large number of options for a host, editing in the small space can be dificult.
Can do (patch attached). I'm considering making some changed to the host parameter menu, which will include checkboxes for different option types, as well as a space for user definable options. I dont know if I'll ever get around to that though.
Excellent work! Thanks :)

Get it here: http://www.nerdvana.org/eric/files/bb-hostedit-1.1b.tar.gz
Once you guys have beaten on it for a little bit, I'll put it up on deadcat (although I'll make all the options set to the bigbrother defaults when I do that).
