Hi Christoph,
Thanks for the clarification, and you are right — my wording was imprecise.
Xymon does run correctly on Debian in production. What I meant to refer to are the *build and packaging aspects on modern Debian systems*(compilation from source, toolchain evolution, packaging maintenance), not runtime operation.
Apologies for the confusion, and thanks for pointing it out.
all good, thank you for clarifying, I just had to ask, because the way I understood your statement did not make any sense for me at all. Thanks for clearing it up. :-)
Cheers Christoph
Cheers, Bruno

what do you mean specifically? What isn't working on Debian? Runnin xymon on dozens of Debian servers here, that's why I puzzled by this statement...

Mark has already created many issues, which provide useful entry points for anyone interested. Release handling also appears to be an area where further refinement could be beneficial.
Taking initiative can be intimidating; it should not be, even if I share that feeling as well. The Xymon community is welcoming, and initiatives taken with good intentions are appreciated. For example, ideas can be shared using the mailing list or by configuring and using GitHub tools and repositories, even if the setup is still evolving.
