As far as I know, the C-compiler that comes with HP-UX is almost only good for compiling the kernel. However you could buy a HP ANSI c-compiler from HP.

From posts on this list, I gather that HP-UX' built-in compiler is unable to compile Hobbit. So I've changed the default HP-UX setting to use gcc.
