I have my xymon hosts set up by DC.
But now I need to set up a page my server admin.
Most of my testing is done from the xymon sever using ext scripts since I don't have clients installed.
Is there a way to specify a page hosts by admin and subpage. With hosts under it without repeating the tests that were ran higher up in the hosts file ?
A host may appear at more than one point in your hosts.cfg. You may specify which line causes the tests to be run by appending the tag "prefer" to that line. If you do specify a line with "prefer" xymonnet will attempt to figure out which line should be preferred. See the man page for hosts.cfg for more details (extracted to here for the list archive).
prefer When a single host is defined multiple time in the hosts.cfg file, xymongen tries to guess which definition is the best to use for the information used on the "info" column, or for the NOPROPRED and other xymongen-specific settings. Host definitions that have a "noconn" tag or an IP of 0.0.0.0 get lower priority.
By using the "prefer" tag you tell xymongen that this host definition should be used. Note: This only applies to hosts that are defined multiple times in the hosts.cfg file, although it will not hurt to add it on other hosts as well.
