I was trying out the same set of data on a FC5 machine earlier today and it does the same thing, if there is only a few events it will display the history and full history fine but if there is quite a number of events it will not display the history or the full history for that service.
It sounds as if there's some malformed entry in the history logfile. Could you send me one of those - the ~hobbit/data/HOSTNAME.TESTNAME file? Then I can try running it here and see if it does the same thing.
