Long time user of BB, enthusiastic amateur with Linux, trying to get xymon installed on Ubuntu server 16.04 and it fails on pcre checking during the ./configure.
I have confirmed that the pcre includes are installed in /usr/include and libs in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu I have used -pcreinclude /usr/include - pcrelib /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu
I ran a sudo apt-get install apache2 rrdtool librrd-dev libpcre3-dev libssl-dev ldap-utils libldap2-dev fping before trying to run ./configure
Checking for PCRE ... /bin/sh: 1: gcc: not found /bin/sh: 1: gcc: not found make: gcc: Command not found Makefile.test-pcre:4: recipe for target 'test-compile' failed make: *** [test-compile] Error 127 ERROR: Cannot compile using PCRE library. /bin/sh: 1: gcc: not found make: gcc: Command not found Makefile.test-pcre:7: recipe for target 'test-link' failed make: *** [test-link] Error 127 ERROR: Cannot link with PCRE library. /bin/sh: 1: gcc: not found Missing PCRE include- or library-files. These are REQUIRED for xymond PCRE can be found at http://www.pcre.org/ If you have PCRE installed, use the "--pcreinclude DIR" and "--pcrelib DIR" options to configure to specify where they are.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong or missing?
