Emailing txt.att.net or vztext.com (something like that) is an AT&T or VZW email -> SMS service. The user in the email address is the destination phone number.

Are the e-mails sent to some kind of mail-to-SMS service provider? If that is the case, my guess is that the queue buildup is at the service provider, your e-mails should be sent almost instantly.

My alerts.cfg lines say format=sms, but if I recall they are just emails that sent to the phones (to an address like 12345678 at txt.att.net) in sms format, correct?
So if it is email, is there a flushable queue?

SMS is not a part of Xymon, so you must be using an external application for this. You need to check the specific application or service that you are using to send SMS. Start by checking in alerts.cfg (hobbit-alerts.cfg) which script is run for SMS alerts.

Greetings, I need to know how to flush the cache / folder where xymon keeps its outgoing sms’s. On occasion my server will experience an issue and will over the course of an entire day send out hundreds of text messages for an issue that was resolved early in the morning. Sometimes it will send the same messages over and over again, which is what has been happening since yesterday morning. The same 20 text messages have been sent to my phone 25 times now.
How can I purge the outstand messages that have yet to be sent?
Kenneth
