4.2.2 client not functioning but server client is

We seem to have an issue where the 4.2.2 client is not functioning correctly - i.e. it won't pass through client side checks such as proc. So we ripped the client out of the server install, and deployed it. It works fine, and the standalone client executable md5sums different from the server client install. Has anyone else noticed this?
