SUSE follows the Linux Filesystem Hierarchy Standard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filesystem_Hierarchy_Standard) - so /opt would be most appropriate. My install pre-dates this, and is in /usr/local/hobbit (was /usr/local/bb, for bigbrother).
