Hi
From what I learned over the last couple of days you should be able to use the regular client. I never had the chance to look after any MAC so I can say for sure but Mac is a *Nix based system. It is only windows that has a separate client. However I cant provide details on how to make it work.

Yes. It's open source which means you can compile it.
I don't believe there is a package pre built for you :(
