On you server try: systest6:~ # netstat -an | grep 1984 | grep LISTEN tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:1984 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
Next on your server try % bb localhost hobbitdboard You should get a list of hosts, tests, status, etc information.
I get a long list of hosts, tests, status ect.
Then on both your server and a client try: % bb server hobbitboard
If you get something like: 2009-09-08 09:50:56 Could not connect to bbd at server:1984 - Connection refused 2009-09-08 09:50:56 Whoops ! bb failed to send message - Connection failed
I get this error message in my hobbitclient.log on the client and on
my server i get this message:
systest6:~ # /zdv-system/xymon/server/bin/bb server hobbitboard
2009-09-08 09:39:50 Cannot determine IP address of message recipient server
2009-09-08 09:39:50 Whoops ! bb failed to send message - Cannot
resolve hostname
No firewall (e.g. iptables) is running on the server and client.
Telnet from the client to the server is working:
telnet 134.2.3.206 1984 Trying 134.2.3.206... Connected to 134.2.3.206. Escape character is '^]'.
Ping is working, too:
ping 134.2.3.206 PING 134.2.3.206 (134.2.3.206) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from 134.2.3.206: icmp_seq=1 ttl=62 time=0.438 ms 64 bytes from 134.2.3.206: icmp_seq=2 ttl=62 time=0.344 ms 64 bytes from 134.2.3.206: icmp_seq=3 ttl=62 time=0.343 ms --- 134.2.3.206 ping statistics --- 3 packets transmitted, 3 received, 0% packet loss, time 1998ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.343/0.375/0.438/0.044 ms
Also traceroute is working:
