I have an alert rule question. I have the following rule defined: HOST=$AV MAIL $SYSADMIN COLOR=red EXSERVICE=msgs,cpu REPEAT=30m RECOVERED MAIL $SYSADMIN COLOR=red SERVICE=cpu DURATION>20 REPEAT=30m RECOVERED MAIL $SYSADMIN COLOR=purple REPEAT=1h RECOVERED I did this because I was tired of getting those Windows event log messages. I no longer get the event log alert or warning messages but I get "recovered" messages for the "msgs" category. I thought the first line would eliminate ALL "msgs" alerts including when it recovers or goes green. Am I thinking about this the wrong way? Mulitple host definition in bb-hosts

Hello, When you define a host multiple times in the bb-hosts file, bbtest gives a warning about strange results. What I want to do is have a display page with separate sections, two of which will be labeled AIX and Critical Systems. One of the AIX servers is also a Critical System, and would be included in both sections, and thus be listed in the hosts file twice. I'll be using the prefer tag on the entry in the AIX section. I've been testing it for about a day now, and it doesn't appear to do anything but turn bbtest yellow. Is there any serious repercussion to this? If not, is there a way to tell bbtest to ignore duplicate entries so that it doesn't turn yellow? BBGEN SLA reports

I'm trying to get BBGEN to create SLA reports. Basically I would like to use cron to create a daily report every night similar to the �Availability Report�. The �Availability Report� works fine. I used the simple script from the BBGEN man pages. However, all I get are some static pages in my /home/hobbit/server/www/rep/daily directory. The links on the page link back to the main hobbit page. If I go into one of the device pages by entering the path in the URL, I get a page with no devices listed. For example, if I go to http://170.63.134.21/hobbit/rep/daily/nams/ I get a hobbit page with no devices. This is where my script is located: /home/hobbit/server/bin/sla_reports I get the following error message when I run the script: 2005-03-02 11:15:40 xgetenv: Cannot find value for variable BBREPGREEN This is what my script looks like: START=`date +%s --date="21 Feb 2005 00:00:00"` END=`date +%s --date="21 Feb 2005 23:59:59"` BBWEB=/hobbit/rep/daily BBHELPSKIN=/help BBNOTESSKIN=/notes /home/hobbit/server/bin/bbgen --reportopts=$START:$END:1:nongr \ --subpagecolumns=1 \ --env=/home/hobbit/server/etc/hobbitserver-test.cfg \ /home/hobbit/server/www/rep/daily I pass some environment variables to BBGEN because it complains about MACHINE variable not set. Hi, Has anyone gotten BBMAP or any other kind of map overlay program to work with Hobbit? The intructions for BBMAP are difficult to understand and rely on BB path defs and It would be nice to have a map style view. Thanks KEvin

You might look at the bb command's hobbitdboard option. It retrieves quite a bit of info on all hosts. [hobbit] Windows Cluster Monitor

That'd be great. We are demoing this for the new director on Monday, so that would really be nice. Thanks very much. If not, we'll coble something together base on the responses we've gotten so far. The UNIX stuff is easy, it's been in place forever. The windows stuff is new to me (I'm a home dabbler in windows) as far as a prd environment. And, our windows admins have resisted this every time we bring it up, so I'm also fighting that resistance :). In any case, thanks for the reply...
