And with Kibana reporting is easy. How it work ? Simple : With capture of status message (xymond_channel --channel=status /home/xymon/server/ext/capture.sh ) script encode status message in json and send as document in elasticSearch. Hi, I have found an issue when trying to monitor imaps and pop3s server offering TLS1.3 . Both servers where running dovecot. I wrote an extension in perl using IO::Socket::SSL (and the same local openssl) to monitor the server offerng tls 1.3 and all is fine with it. For some strange reason, I can monitor a https web servers (running nginx or apache) offering TLS 1.3 without this issue but not imaps/pop3s. Xymon 4.3.30 Released

Xymon 4.3.30 has been released and is now available for download. 4.3.30 is mostly a bug-fix release, quashing issues stemming from the security fixes in 4.3.29, including improperly-tight restrictions on allowed characters in hostname for browsing along with several other parsing errors. Thanks in particular to Tom Schmidt for his assistance in tracking these down. Xymon should also now be more easily buildable on older GCC versions without the diagnostics pragma available. Xymon 4.3.30 is available from the Xymon SourceForge page at https://sourceforge.net/projects/xymon/ As always, thank you to all who have contributed code, ideas, and features to the project! Hi list I recently upgraded my mail server to FreeBSD 12.1 to support TLSv1.3. Since then I have had issues with the smtps and imaps monitoring in Xymon. I have found a thread describing exactly the same issue on the "debian-bugs-dist" list: https://www.mail-archive.com/debian-bugs-dist at lists.debian.org/msg1684022.html No ones seems to have found a fix, though. Anyone here knows how to to fix or work around this issue? New to Xymon, looking for resources

Hello Xymon mailing list, First, I apologize in advance if I violate any norms or protocol. I'm a fairly new Sys Admin and just subscribed to the list. I moved into a position previously held by a long time, very creative, smart person, in a department with not a lot of money and the historical attitude of "making do." I have a couple dozen systems under my control, from Window servers, to a Rasberry Pi, to Ubuntu standalone servers, and any mix of the above as Virtual machines, both hosted on an internal server, and at the Data Center managed by our parent organization. My predecessor set up Xymon to monitor things and it is working well. But I would like to extend and modify it and I'm having a very hard time finding clear resources on how to do what I would like to do, such as: - Add monitoring installed packages on the Ubuntu systems. Two of my systems have the 'apt' column (SERVICE=apt), but I can't find instructions on how to install that feature on the others. - "turn on" monitoring for various services (files, ports, procs) that appear, but are not configured. And "turn off" monitoring for others. Is there a site or sites - or mailing list archive - you can recommend? I keep ending up on the same few pages with links to empty repositories, or referencing files I can't find. Thank you, Anna

Dead clients reappear in ghost client list

I am having an issue where after removing a dead client from Xymon (deleting from host.cfg and issuing './xymon/server/etc/bin/xymon 127.0.0.1 "drop [HOSTNAME]"' it shows up again in the ghostlist. I have a script to read the ghostlist to add any clients that deploy on the network and delete them if a status color for a test matches criteria I specify. Essentially, my script adds clients it sees in the ghostlist and deletes them if they are terminated. After termination, the host is still listed under the ghost list and my script adds a dead/terminated host to Xymon, where no reports are made because the client does not exist. Am I doing something wrong like not clearing temp/var files? I have tried clearing files under /hist /histlogs /hostdata and /rrd yet that does not solve it. Thanks
