Dear All, one test is generating the following data for example: S3ESNX0J951635M-read_data_units : 21504913 S3ESNX0J951635M-written_data_units : 70723823 S3ESNX0J951635M-avail_spare : 100 S3ESNX0J951635M-percent_used : 66 S3ESNX0J951626N-read_data_units : 20199161 S3ESNX0J951626N-written_data_units : 68858853 S3ESNX0J951626N-avail_spare : 100 S3ESNX0J951626N-percent_used : 66 2J4520102682-read_data_units : 1199257 2J4520102682-written_data_units : 4055284 2J4520102682-percent_used : 0 2J4520102682-avail_spare : 100 I want *data_units* to be gauge, while the others should remain derive. What does the SPLITNCV line in xymonserver.cfg have to look like? I've tried the following without success: SPLITNCV_ssd="data_units:GAUGE" SPLITNCV_ssd="*data_units:GAUGE" SPLITNCV_ssd=".*data_units:GAUGE" SPLITNCV_ssd="%.*data_units:GAUGE" Thank you for your help! case sensitivity of tags?

Beating my head against this today. It looks to me like xymonnet has some really weird case-checks in it. (Xymon 4.3.28 on Solaris 10) a URL in the hosts.cfg appears to only be valid with lower-case protocol # This works 0.0.0.0 foo.bar.com # https://foo.bar.com/index.html # This does not work! 0.0.0.0 baz.bar.com # HTTPS://baz.bar.com/index.html Can anyone confirm this behavior on some other version or platform? -- Do things because you should, not just because you can. how to view new group on hosts file more frequently

Hello All, I have a concern with Xymon which I need help in, when I add a new TAG in the hosts.cfg file ( if it will generate new row in the webpage (new group-only line)) it takes around 15 mins to appear on the webpage , but it takes no time if I added the new TAG to existed group-only line. scenario:? multiple xymon clients across several environments and linux OS. An unrelated script (ir not xymon related) run as root user, however does need to ascertain the xymon server IP for various system checks. Is there any "easy" or "simple" manner than can be scripted to ascertain this?? Without some really convuluted logic checking various configuration files that appear to (environment , OS etc dependent) to be in various places ie not always ~xymon/client/etc/xymonclient.cfg, which may then use an include on eg /etc/sysconfig/xymon-client... thoughts? ian

Xymon send email using Mail command with -r problem.

Hi All, I had a Xymon server need send email with a special sender email address, because of mail server had limitation sender must be company email domain ( xxxx at abc.com) if I need send email to external email such as gmail or SMS service. I had added Xymon XXXX at abc.com in Sendmail genericstable but not working. Also, I had tried to rename the hostname from xymonserver.localdomain.com to xymonserver.abc.com it works, but we cannot change the hostname it will make the other problem. I can't use -r in Alert.cfg, for example : MAIL -r alex. at abc.com alexalex at extenalweb.com SERVICE=uptime,conn it will not send out and Xymon alert.log shows below error mail: option requires an argument -- r Usage: mail -eiIUdEFntBDNHRVv~ -T FILE -u USER -h hops -r address -s SUBJECT -a FILE -q FILE -f FILE -A ACCOUNT -b USERS -c USERS -S OPTION users so, I tried to change x=xymonserver.cfg but not working, I added -r in Mail="$MAILC -s" # For the xymond_alert module MAILC="mail" # Command used to send an e-mail with no subject MAIL="$MAILC -r -s" # Command used to send an e-mail with a subject may I know the setting of xymonserver.cfg to allow MAIL Command to use -r in Xymon alert.cfg? The problem turned out to be SELinux not allowing fping to write its output: type=AVC msg=audit(1581054673.192:3358): avc:? denied? { write } for? pid=14767 comm="fping" path="/var/lib/xymon/tmp/ping-stderr.14764.00" dev="dm-9" ino=288964 scontext=system_u:system_r:ping_t:s0 tcontext=system_u:object_r:init_tmp_t:s0 tclass=file permissive=1 The rule was set as dontaudit, and I had to rebuild the policy ignoring dontaudit flags to see the denials. Before I create a local rule using audit2allow, does anyone know if it's a known issue with a fix available (from terabithia or xymon)? How to make link in alert message show hostname instead of "localhost"?

When my Xymon instance generated alert emails, the link at the bottom links like this: "See http://localhost/xymon-cgi/svcstatus.sh?HOST=choicevoip&SERVICE=conn <http://localhost/xymon-cgi/svcstatus.sh?HOST=choicevoip&SERVICE=conn>? Can anyone tell me how to have these links get generated to use the actual hostname instead of localhost? Thanks! Jeff
