Hi all, I am a hobbit newby. I have a question about the PROC test: is there a way to define a test about the presence of a particular proc executed by a particular user? I'm in a situation where I have some daemons that could be started by a lot of (machine)users and so I would like to check the user the proc run as. Thanks in advance Marco

For those who want to monitor a cups print server, here's a definition you can put in your bb-services file: [cupsd] send "GET /printers\r\n" expect "HTTP/1.1 200 OK" port 631 Alternatively, you could just use http://host:631/printers in your bb-hosts file. Email alert based on specific process

Hi All I am using bb-proctab to monitor a list of processes and if any process a whole group get alert. Is there a way I can setup the alert with process specific. So if proc 1 out the list dies only user 1 get alert and so on. I know I could use the SCRIPT feature but like to keep that as the last resort. I am using hobbit 4.1.2 on Solaris 8. The process list I am concern about is running bb1.9c client on Solaris 8 as well. Sorry if it were already discussed in the mailing list. There is an option to snmptrap (from net snmp) to send full OIDs, otherwise they are cut. Instead of "snmptrap -v 1", the options should be : "snmptrap -v 1 -Of" Otherwise only the end of the OID is sent. Since we're looking to package some of our (server and client) extension scripts for hobbits in RPMs (to work nicely with the rest of our server deployment setup for Linux boxen), it would be really convenient if we could dump the entry for hobbitlaunch.cfg/clientlaunch.cfg and hobbitgraph.cfg in separate files, and use include directives (with support for globs) in the relevant config files. ie, supporting something like: include /etc/hobbit/hobbitlaunch.d/*.cfg Regards, Buchan -- Buchan Milne ISP Systems Specialist B.Eng,RHCE(803004789010797),LPIC-2(LPI000074592)

descriptions in alerts

Hi, We've inserted information using the "Descr:" tags in our bb-hosts file that we'd like to be able to include in some of our alerts. Is there a variable that we can use in our paging scripts to include this information - or is there a way to grab this information about a host when sending an alert? Kevin Flavin

problem compiling HP-UX 11.11 using gcc

Sorry, done. Has anyone had luck with HP-UX. I have searched and searched and searched. It seems like several people have had luck, but I keep getting compilation errors. MRTG graphs

Hello, Following this page: http://hobbitmon.sourceforge.net/docs/hobbit-mrtg.html I added MRTG graph to my hobbit server, but when I look to trends page I didn't see anything. The RRD file is clearly updated but when I want to see image of the graph hobbitgraph.sh say: The image “http://hobbit/hobbit-cgi/hobbitgraph.sh?host=master&service=mrtg&graph_width=576&graph_height=120&first=1&count=1&disp=master&graph=hourly&action=view” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors. Easy question on GRAPHS and trends

I have successfully migrated from BB to hobbit (excellent software IMHO), however there is a small thing that I cannot get solved. I collect rrd data for the tests vmstat, vmstat1, vmstat2,vmstat3,vmstat4 and vmstat5 If I build an URL like: http://MYBBDISPLAY/hobbit-cgi/hobbitgraph.sh?host=AHOBBITCLIENT&service=vms… I can see the graph just fine (so the data on the rrd files and the graph definitions - which come standard on hobbitgraph.cfg - are OK), however I cannot get hobbit to display the graph and link in the trends page. It only displays vmstat , but not vmstat1-vmstat5 According to the documentation I should just add the graph names to the GRAPHS variable at hobbitserver.cfg, but I have already done that: GRAPHS="la,disk,inode,qtree,memory,users,vmstat,vmstat3,vmstat4,vmstat5,iostat,tcp.http,tcp,netstat,temperature,ntpstat,apache,bind,sendmail,mailq,socks,bea,iishealth,citrix,bbgen,bbtest,bbproxy,hobbitd,postfix,mrtg::1" The funny thing is that I also made a custom graph 'postfix' for postfix queues and that one shows up on the trends page perfectly, it is only the vmstat family which refuses to appear. My version is hobbit-4.1.2p1-1 on Fedora Core 3. Thanks in advance for your help.
