Thanks I made that change and it looks good. Any chance of getting the ntpstat script or having hobbit generate the ntpstat data with the built in ntp test? Hi All, If my (and probably all others) server goes down and is rebooted, the hobbit doesn't start since the pidfile exists. Why not remove the the pidfile in the restart case in starthobbit.sh? Question about Page= in hobbit-alerts

Running 4.02 I have a page defined as mon1 in bb-hosts, there are no hosts defined on the page, but there are 2 subpages defined, mon1-a and mon1-b. I setup an alert which does not work, that looks like: PAGE=mon1 SERVICE=* DURATION>10 MAIL myaddress at mydomain.com Do I have to define this for each subpage to get it to work? If so, how do I format the PAGE= ? Thanks, Michael

Alert test feature

Hi all Not sure if I asked this a while back and didn't get a response or I just didnt ask it at all. Just been making some major changes to a customers alert.cfg file and it reminded me about it. Just wondering if its possible to implement a time= param on the on the hobbitd_alert --test command. Its really wicked to be able to check your rules and see what they're going to do but it would be even better if you could simulate a time as well. An extension to that would be possibly to have a duration tag to ensure your duration settings in the alerts.cfg file are all good. Please someone bonk me on the head if this is already in there and I cant find it. Also please provide feedback on if you think would be a nice addition......or not I'm always up for a flaming :) Cheers Allan

Scheduled Disable

Hi all Just gone to use the schedule disable host for the first time ever, entered the information the screen refreshed and said it was disabling then refreshed back to the disable scren and said theres no scheduled actions ? Tried it again and got the same thing. Have tried both from the main enadis menu and from the enadis on the individual host Checked for any logs or any evidence that it did/didnt work and cant find anything at all Any clues ? Allan

Hi, there In the long run (before I died ;), I plan to migrate my bb system monitoring environment to hobbit given its open-source license and availability of cookit provides commercial support. Following items that need to be done and I am willing to help on 1. Digitalize the hobbit compilation and packaging process for different Unixen. So we don't need keep answering how to compile hobbit on ??? platform issues. 2. Set up a hobbit wiki page/book (on mediawiki ?) I like mediawiki because there is a command line client in perl to automate the wikipage update. 3. Prepare the hobbit document in docbook format ? The docbook format is the final resting place of hobbit wiki. So we can generate pdf and rtf easily. I have experience on above three tasks, just need to hear a few voices to tell me to jump on these tasks ;) Seriouslly, please follow up this thead to let me know your comment. Should I spend the efforts on these tasks ? Are you willing to help etc... T.J. Yang

I've been slowly migrating from MRTG/Cricket to Hobbit (4.0.3), primarily on OpenBSD. When I first started to show the results to coworkers, the first reaction I would get from just about everybody has been "Can't you do something about the gawdawful color scheme?" Looking at the actual code, it appears that the backgrounds can be adjusted through the BBBACKGROUND tag, but to change the text colors I would have to manually edit each of the twenty hobbitd/webfiles/*_header files? Is there any reason not to remove most of the attributes currently on the <BODY ...> and <FONT ..> tags in each of these files, and instead rely on styles set in hobbitd/wwwfiles/menu/menu.css?
