Hello, I'm asking here if I can use Hobbit as a "probe" to test Internet sites. I want to be able to trace requests and provide to customers response time of these requests. Basically, the 'cont' test of Hobbit is not sufficient 'cause you only test static pages. My main objective is to write some scenarios like : login with this login/pass / go to these links (trying to do some requests on Weblogic and database) / logout Does anybody have already set up scripts like that ? Hi, These are the instructions my predecessor left: 1. Add --listening=127.0.0.1 to hobbitd in your forwarding server's hobbitlaunch.cfg 2. Enable bbproxy in your forwarding server's hobbitlaunch.cfg use the option --bbdisplay=5.6.7.8,127.0.0.1(NB:127.0.0.1 is last because the last variable points to the server that configures clients) to tell it to forward requests to both servers (also add -- listen=137.202.205.54(external ip)) 3. Change the BBSERVERIP setting in hobbitserver.cfg to point at the 127.0.0.1 address. This setting is used e.g. by the web CGI's that talk to the "real" hobbit server, so it is best to point at the real server IP, not the proxy 4. If you run network tests from the same server then you probably need to change the CMD setting in hobbitlaunch.cfg also. Instead of calling bbtest-net directly, put it into a shell script wrapper and set BBDISP explicitly to the 5.6.7.8 address before bbtest-net. Otherwise, it will pick the BBSERVERIP setting and send the network test results to 127.0.0.1 - so they won't go through the proxy, and hence you won't see them on the main server. 5. Restart Hobbit So I've done step 1-3 but 4 is confusing me, are there any other ways to go about getting a proxy setup or is this the only know solution? Hobbit Fetch

I am working with the hobbitfetch program. It seems to be working from on the clients. I can run the bb IP "pullclient" command from my hobbit server and I get the data back just fine. Also when I look at the client logs and tmp directory I see things updating normally. The issue I have is I don't see any of the data updating on the Web pages. I have updated the bb-hosts file to have the pulldata tag. What am I missing? Here is what I have in my bb-hosts file, I do have the IP's listed just can't send then out. [hobbit] Configuration database backend.

I like the idea of a database for the trends and status. I think once you getinto using a database for that you will look for other parts of hobbit to put there too. One thing that comes to mind is some uer authentication for whatever config editing front-end you do. I'm more thinking about making a web-based frontend for the config files. The config files can be parsed as ini-files. And for parsing ini-files, perl is perfect. Multiple Servers

Can someone point me to a doc. that will tell me how to configure multiple servers? I'm moving the primary over to another machine, and I'd like to run them both for a short time. I'm also considering a redundancy check server. ie.one goes down, the other is available. Thanks.James
