Hi- Does anyone have a working oracle script (so I don't have to grab an old Oracle/BB script, and hack it to death)? Multiple Colums (for servers) on pages?

I have a bunch of workstations in which I am basically just testing the connection. These only have 3 columns listed with them - Conn, Info, and trends. I was wondering if there was any way to wrap this around (so to speak) at the bottom of the page and show 2 columns of workstations side by side. Just seems a pity to waste all that space and have to scroll down (lazy aren't I?) if on this page I could put it in 2 groups. Thanks.

[hobbit] Solaris memory reporting

Curious thing I noticed today, with the 7-6-2006 client snapshot... I just compiled the hobbit client on a solaris 8 box, and everything is working fine. However, BB is reporting 83% swap usage (which is the same value returned by swapdf), yet the Hobbit client is reporting only 77% swap usage. The solaris machine has both a swap partition, as well as a swap file (in /tmp). What method does the Hobbit client use to determine swap usage? Since Hobbit reports more free swap than BB, I'm assuming that means BB is only looking at the swap slice and not the combined swap slice + swap file to generate the swap usage. Gary B.

Graphing Disk Space on Netapp

Hi Henrik, I'm modifying the original filers2bb scripts to monitor disk/inode/snapshot/quotas data on netapp storage via rsh and all is working quite good. Disk space and Inode data are also saved to rrd and graphed by the hobbitd_rrd module as well as the qtree quotas. With the qtree quotas graphs I've a little problem caused I think from the fact that the shares are for windows and there are spaces inside the directory names. Just to do some examples I create the same layout of the Disk spaces/Inodes used and i put directory after the volume names just to be in line with all the other disk statistics: Filesystem 1k-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted On /vol/g_home/App_Overview 2.0G 120K 2.0G 0% /vol/g_home/App_Overview /vol/g_home/Applicativi Rete 2.0G 127M 1.9G 6% /vol/g_home/Applicativi Rete /vol/g_home/AttFisse 10G 8.3G 1.7G 83% /vol/g_home/AttFisse /vol/g_home/Audit2006DSI 2.0G 68M 1.9G 3% /vol/g_home/Audit2006DSI /vol/g_home/BO6.5 2.0G 732M 1.3G 36% /vol/g_home/BO6.5 /vol/g_home/Common 3.4G 3.1G 376M 89% /vol/g_home/Common In the graph part I get problems with the line /vol/g_home/Applicativi Rete 2.0G 127M 1.9G 6% /vol/g_home/Applicativi Rete The first problem that I've solved was related to the first directory name (the left one) where with a " " in the name the hobbit engine will shift all data and do some odd graphing. I substituted the " " with a "_" in the first part and the graphs are now the correct ones but the directory names in the graph is wrong because it only get "Applicativi" in the name of the disk in the rrd. If possible I need to leave at least one of the 2 "Filesystem" or "mounted on" with a space inside because we also have some qtree with "_" and if I change all of them it will be more difficult to check where the problem is from people that don't know this behavious. Henrik, it's possible that the disk graphing routine will get the entire last parameters until end of line so that with "Applicativi Rete" it will get the entire string or that the hobbit program will convert the " " before doing the rrd if the problem is in the rrd engine? I've also another question, I'm getting data about snapshot directories to check the space occupied by them and it could be nice to have also the graph of those disk spaces. The format I'm getting is the same of the disk/inodes/qtree and the column is called snapshot. OK, I've been somewhat confused about the graph setup for the "procs" column. So the definitions in the beta version are wrong. To fix it: 1) In hobbitserver.cfg, change the TEST2RRD setting so instead of just "procs", it has "procs=processes". In the default setup: TEST2RRD="cpu=la,disk,inode,qtree,memory,$PINGCOLUMN=tcp,http=tcp,dns=tcp,dig=tcp,time=ntpstat,vmstat,iostat,netstat,temperature,apache,bind,sendmail,mailq,nmailq=mailq,socks,bea,iishealth,citrix,bbgen,bbtest,bbproxy,hobbitd,files,procs=processes,ports,clock,lines" 2) Also in hobbitserver.cfg, change the GRAPHS setting so it references the "processes" definition instead of just "procs". Default setup: GRAPHS="la,disk,inode,qtree,files,processes,memory,users,vmstat,iostat,tcp.http,tcp,ncv,netstat,ifstat,mrtg::1,ports,temperature,ntpstat,apache,bind,sendmail,mailq,socks,bea,iishealth,citrix,bbgen,bbtest,bbproxy,hobbitd,clock,lines" 3) In hobbitgraph.cfg, rename the "[procs]" section to "[processes]". Hi, We've inserted information using the "Descr:" tags in our bb-hosts file that we'd like to be able to include in some of our alerts. Is there a variable that we can use in our paging scripts to include this information - or is there a way to grab this information about a host when sending an alert? Kevin Flavin

[bug?] expect in bb-services should set banner automagically

Hi Henrik, I just lost 2 hours because I failed to set the "banner" option when expecting a response from an ajp13 service in tomcat. Won't it be nice to have an "auto banner ON" when expecting some feedback from the server ? By the way, here is the protocol to test AJP 1.3 : [ajp13] send "\x12\x34\x00\x01\x0a" expect "\x41\x42\x00\x01\x09" options banner port 8009 (sends a PING command) Regards, -- Charles
