Hello, I've installed hobbit 4.1.2 on debian alpha port. I could compile the sources without any problem. I also can see the current states of my computers, but the diagramms are not working. Therefore if had a look into the rrd- logs and foun an error message. 2006-08-08 10:47:41 RRD error creating /usr/local/hobbit/data/rrd/wva-svalpha2/netstat.rrd: min must be less than max in DS definition The error is dislayed for every DS configured on the server. Any suggestion?

Bbhostgrep not finding host

I'd a user of the dbcheck.pl script that cannot find the dbcheck tag in the bb-hosts file with bbhostgrep. After some investigation I think he have 2 line in the bb-hosts file for that host and the second one have the dbcheck test but bbhostgrep could not find it. I've tested with a snapshot of some days ago that I'm using in my test environment and it seems that also with the 4.2 i cannot get the host. the bb-hosts contains: 0.0.0.0 testhost # smtp ftp telnet 0.0.0.0 testhost # noconn dbcheck if i do bbhostgrep dbcheck i get nothing, if I do bbhostgrep smtp i get the first line. He's using 4.1.2p1 and I'm using 4.2-RC-20060712.2 Thanks Francesco

Client crashes with logfetch

OK, several reports this afternoon shows that something is up with the client-side "logfetch" utility. The reason why it really blew up today is because I've been trying to figure out what was wrong with it late last week, and some of the experimental versions leaked out into the all-in-one patch and of course also the snapshots. I think I've got it under control now, and for testing I would like all of you who have run into this problem to grab these two files: http://www.hswn.dk/beta/snapshot/configure.client http://www.hswn.dk/beta/snapshot/client/logfetch.c First one goes in the top-level directory, second one goes into the client/ directory. Build your clients with make distclean ./configure --client make make install The "configure" step is essential! Please report back whether it starts working again or not. Thanks, Henrik

multiple BBDISPLAY and custom extension scripts

Hi, just wondering... When you have a multi-bbdisplay setup, what the deal ? - do the ext scripts have to implement the sending to each display - or does the bb command send it to every display (thus ignoring the IP given on commandline) - or hobbitclient launches the status script once per bbdisplay. oversized [ports] section && 'stopped reporting'

one of our servers have up to 6000 TIME_WAIT tcp connections from time to time. This got truncated, of course. I want to see them all. any quick way to change the upper limit w/o recompilation ? Also, for the same server, from time to time, certain checks 'stopped reporting' [ files & msgs, in particular ] for some extended period, sometimes over 35m, while other checks kept going. I wonder if the message truncation triggered by the over-sized [ports] section caused this loss. Or should I look elsewhere ? This 'reporting-stopped' symptoms occur with or without an actual PORT check configured for the clients under questions.

The script will monitor all the database from a single host that have access to the database and the database client installed. The better thing to do is to run them on the server where you have all the configuration of hobbit in a unique place but it can also be run on a client (not tested but should work). To run them you can use the hobbitlaunch.cfg or clientlaunch.cfg (if you're running on a client). To do all the check i use 2 section in the hobbitlaunch.cfg of the hobbit server to check the database with different timing. I use to launch a fast check every 5 minutes that will only check for connection, audit table, tablespace, session and cache (because i graph them and i want the 5 minutes data) and a slow test that do the rest of the check (rollback and extent check on some of the database I'm checking take 10-15 minutes to run so i prefer to run them every 4 hour).
